Mohammed Issues Law On Judicial Body Appointments

In his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Law No4 of
2010 governing appointments to the judicial council in the emirate of Dubai.
As per the new law, which amends Article II of Law No6 of 1992, Sheikh Maktoum
bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, has been appointed as
chairman of the council. The law also appoints the Director of Dubai Ruler's
Court as vice-chairman of the council.
The council's membership will also comprise of the Government of Dubai's legal
advisor, the public prosecutor, the director of Dubai Courts, the head of the
cessation court, the head of the court of appeal and the head of Dubai courts of
first instance. The law is effective from its date of issuance.
